A beach vacation seems to be the universal get away. There are so many beach vacation options that almost anyone can find the perfect escape. For those living close enough, a quick trip to the shore makes a beach vacation in reach every summer weekend. For those more adventurous – and ambitious, trips to Australia, Fiji, and Roatan are all on the list of places to be. Beach vacations can be a family affair or a trip with friends. Finding the right vacation spot can be a bit daunting, but if you take the right approach, a great beach vacation will be right around the corner. •Write a Beach Vacation Wish List. Include places, things to do and things to see. If you’re all about golf, then a trip to the remote reaches of the Outer banks of North Carolina might not be for you. If your idea of a beach vacation is hanging ten on a gnarly wave, than the serene fresh water beaches of Oscada on Lake Huron won’t fit the bill. •Get Out the Calendar. Planning your vacation either very early – or very late – may pay off. If you’ve got a bit of flexibility when planning your trip you may be more successful in going exactly where you want to go. However, don’t ever assume it’s too late. A friend was recently looking for a last minute vacation. In the dead of winter, on a cold February day, he assumed he wouldn’t have any luck booking a beach vacation – but he was wrong. He found out that being a last minute traveler still left him plenty of options. And, by being flexible, he was able to stay two extra nights for the same price at a well known resort.
If budget is a concern for your beach vacation, and for most of us it is, there are a few strategies that make it easier to enjoy your vacation, while you’re on vacation. Travel Off-Peak: This one seems obvious, but there wouldn’t be peak weeks if everyone did it. Its just common sense - or maybe common cents. Unless you’re looking for the ultimate spring break party, find another time of the year to go to Cancun. Unless you’re in to motorcycles, Bike Week at Daytona Beach will be the most expensive time of the year to travel. Beach Inclusive Vacations: With a little bit of shopping, an all-inclusive beach vacation can be a bargain for a beach vacation. Most of the trip you will spend on excursions or “on property”, which means you’ll have less temptation to splurge. The other great savings on an all inclusive beach vacation is that you know the costs up front. There will be very few surprises. Reward Miles: Rather than finding the resort, and then figuring out how to get there, take a look at your airline or credit card miles. If you’re willing to go to a destination that’s off-the-beaten-path you may be able to cash in your airline miles even if your account isn’t as packed as a business traveler. And if you are a business traveler, now is the time to use those miles to get you to the beach. Beach Vacations are memorable, relaxing and fun. With a world of adventures to be had and an endless list of activities, even the most impatient among us can find the perfect beach trip.
