Located 3.5 hours north of Detroit, getting to the beaches of Oscoda might not be easy, but its definitely worth it. The coast of Lake Huron is the perfect retreat from the hectic grind of every day life. The Oscoda area offers all of the amenities of much larger resort communities without the trappings of feeling like an overwhelmed tourist. Oscoda beaches offer something rarely found in the world today. The ability to get away and find your own stretch of beach. But, if a secluded spot isn’t what you’re looking for in a beach, Oscoda also offers Oscoda Beach Park. An area that entertains the kid in all of us with a beautiful beach, skateboard park, picnic areas and a classic board walk. Oscoda Beach Park also offers a convenient bathhouse that’s convenient for day trippers to the area. It’s also an easy trip to a wonderfully welcoming business district. One of the nicest things about the beaches in Oscoda is the combination of wide beaches, fresh water and shallow depths. It’s the perfect area to take a family to the beach without some of the worries that come with a trip to the ocean. The area offers an abundance of camping sites, hotels, resorts and cottages. A visitor can find exactly what they are looking for from the rustic to the indulgent. A great way to enjoy the area is to start with a few days roughing it in the wilds around Oscoda and then heading to one of the regions great cottages and resorts. Guests will find plenty to do other than just visiting Oscoda beaches on their visit. Golfing, hiking, shopping, canoeing and fishing are all abundant in the region. Night life is fairly tame, but the are some great opportunities for dining in Oscoda. Many visitors will also explore the areas around Oscoda including Tawas and other areas on the AuSable River.
